Generate your own electricity with a CHP heating system
Ein Blockheizkraftwerk (BHKW) ist eine moderne Energieerzeugungsanlage. Es funktioniert nach dem Prinzip der Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung (KWK). Die erzeugte Wärme wird für die Beheizung vor Ort verwendet oder kann beispielsweise in ein Nahwärmenetz eingespeist werden. Gleichzeitig produziert der Generator des BHKW Strom für den Eigenbedarf, welcher vom Staat gefördert wird. Außerdem wird zusätzlich der ansonsten eingekaufte Strom eingespart. Falls zu viel Strom produziert wird, kann dieser in das öffentliche Netz eingespeist werden und wird vergütet.
Durch Nutzung der KWK-Technologie wird ein Gesamtwirkungsgrad von über 90 % erzielt. Dabei beträgt in Abhängigkeit des Herstellers der durchschnittliche elektrische Wirkungsgrad eines BHKW zwischen 30 % und 40 %. Der thermische Wirkungsgrad beträgt etwa zwischen 50 % und 60 %.
Blockheizkraftwerke finden sowohl im privaten, als auch im gewerblichen Bereich Anwendung. Jedoch ist der gewerbliche Einsatz eines BHKW besonders lohnenswert, denn es produziert gleichzeitig Wärme und Strom. Beides kann direkt vor Ort genutzt werden und führt infolgedessen zu einer langfristigen Senkung der Energiekosten.
